Tiger Vs Phil Confirmed

Tiger Vs Phil Confirmed

Besides Patrick Reed yelling at camera crews and Bryson DeChambeau not showing the greatest sportsmanship after his round, the big news in golf this week was the Tiger versus Phil match has finally been confirmed. The match will take place Thanksgiving weekend and apparently it’s a winner take all for $10 million.

I do like how there is something to look forward to golf wise in the winter seasons, of course there is also the Ryder Cup this year, but besides that not much else is going on in golf around this time.

It’s also nice to see Tiger play, there is no guarantee he plays in the Ryder Cup this year so possibly having to go from September until next January without watching him play would not be fun.

Besides, I would rather watch him bankrupt Phil than see him play some winter tournament that has 20 people in it.

However, this match should have happened years ago, Tiger is still arguably the biggest draw in sports but having two golfers in their 40’s play for money may not be the most appealing thing to viewers.

Not golf related but this reminds me of the Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao boxing match that had disappointed by the time it finally happened. This match should have taken place years earlier when both were in their prime, not when both are nearing retirement.

I believe the same can be said for this Tiger vs Phil matchup, sure it’s Tiger playing…and I will likely watch it, but if this were to have happened back in say 2012 or 2013 then it would have been much more exciting not just to golfers but all sports fans in general.

Instead, were getting a matchup of two all-time greats in their 40’s who are long past their primes.

Hopefully it doesn’t disappoint.

What are your thoughts on this Tiger vs Phil matchup? Will you tune in Thanksgiving weekend? Let’s discuss in the comment section below!

  1. Definitely better viewing than the old Thanksgiving skins games. You’re right; would have been better when they were in their primes but at least there’s no pay-per-view wasted c-note on this one!
