I must say, that was one heck of a tournament, the final round had a bunch of everything. First off, congrats to Rory for securing his first Players Championship, I hope he can get his first green jacket next month. The fact that Rory can power through and win a tournament even when his game is not at the highest level is very impressive.
I mentioned Rahm in my previous post, I really hope he can learn from this experience. As for Fleetwood, he was very much in it until the 17th when he decided to take dead aim at the hole. I don’t blame him for this decision, he needed to finish birdie-birdie in order to force a playoff. Really looking forward to seeing him play at the Masters, may just throw some money his way that week.
As for Mr. Tiger, things were looking promising until he quadrupled bogeyed the 17th during his second round. After that, the only highlight was him and Kevin Na the next day on the same hole.
Unfortunately, none of my golfers that I put money on were able to win. The best result was Hideki finishing 8th. Ian Poulter absolutely lost it during his third round, from there it all went downhill….I’d rather not talk about it.
Last but not least, Mr. Jim Furyk finished second….second!!!
I was very impressed with how he was able to stay in the hunt throughout the final round, there were times where I thought he would fall apart but that was not the case. The fact that he was able to keep up with guys like Rory, Fleetwood, Rahm, DJ is absolutely remarkable. Well done Jim!
Overall, I really enjoyed this years Players Championship, especially that it’s now held in March. This tournament always has the major feel to it and this year was no different.
