Could this be the week? The week the golfing world has waited almost five years for….and that’s for Tiger to finally hoist a trophy again.
I tend to say this a lot, now that I think about it more so every time he plays, but I truly believe this weeks WGC Bridgestone Invitational is his best chance of the year to win. Of course, every time Tiger plays there is always a chance, nothing would ever surprise me when he sets foot on the course.
Tiger has won this tournament EIGHT times in his career……EIGHT, his last win came here back in 2013. He made it his goal earlier in the year to be able to qualify for this tournament as only the top 50 ranked golfers are eligible, and sure enough with Tiger being #50 he managed to squeeze in.
He knows this course so well, has had so much success on it, if there was ever a tournament for him to win this year…this is the one.
There have been glimpses of hope, started at the Valspar, then at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, had the round of his life at The Players, then at the Quicken Loans National, and he saved the best glimpse for the British Open a few weeks back.
Was leading the British Open, and if it wasn’t for a flop shot that many questioned, probably would have won the tournament. Although, Molinari played very well, and I am not trying to take anything away from him, he deserved it.
His rise in the world rankings speak for itself (although I know Tiger could care less about his ranking), but it shows that he has improved so much as the season has gone on.
He has gone from being ranked near John Daly and Mike Weir to being #50 in the world and being able to compete with the best this week.
Could this finally be the week? I sure hope it is, the whole golfing world hopes so as well.
See you in Sunday red Tiger.
